Ram Van: $3.50 one way - This is a go-to for many Fordham students, including myself. It runs every half an hour and you all have to do is sign up at www.ramvan.web.fordham.edu. This is easiest for me because my dorm, O'Hare, is just a short walk away from where the van picks up and drops off students. The ride is about 35 minutes without traffic and is perfect those traveling between campuses for class, those who want to explore Central Park, those who want to dine at the amazing restaurants in the Hell's Kitchen area, or for those interested in seeing a show at Lincoln Center!
Metro North: $6.25/weekdays, $8.25/peak, $4.00/weekend - Want to see one of the most beautiful and historical structures in New York City? Just hop on a train to Grand Central Station and be prepared to be amazed. Grand Central is located on 42nd street and from there you can take a subway to nearly anywhere. If you're looking for an adventure by foot, just take a step outside of Grand Central and Times Square is only a few blocks away!
Subway: $2.50 a ride - The B and D trains are just a few blocks away from campus and the 4 train is just two blocks further. For just a couple of bucks, you can travel anywhere from the Bronx to Manhattan or Brooklyn! At night the walk to and from the subway can be a little sketchy, but Fordham has vans that will pick you up and drop you off at the subway station after 10 p.m.
Car - While a taxi may be difficult to get in the Bronx, there are various car services that easily get students into NYC. One of my favorites is Uber. All you have to do is download the app and connect it to your credit/debit card. From there, decide on a pick up location and click a button that will send an Uber car your way! There is also a complete list of other companies that Fordham recommends. The price varies from company to company, so make sure to check your options!
